The handbook has been designed with the invaluable assistance of several types of participants
The volume was aided , especially in its early phases , by three associate editors , Tamar Katriel of Haifa University in Israel , Kwesi Yankah of Central University College and the University of
Ghana in Africa , and Shi-xu of Zhejiang University in China . The Associate Editors with others elped the editor identify potential authors , review selected papers , and design those parts of the handbook with which each was most familiar . Each associate editor is a well-known figure in the field of study . Professor Tamar Katriel is an internationally known figure in ethnographic studies of communication with special attention to Israeli symbolic action and culture . Professor
Shi-xu is current editor of the joumal , ournal of Multicutural Discourses , Director of the Dis course Study Program at Zhejiang University , China , and author of the recent book , A Cultral
Approach to Discourse Kwesi Yankah is a well-published scholar in the ethnography of c nication and after serving as Vice Chancellor at the University of Ghana in Accra , Africa .

In addition to the Associate Editors , the handbook has involved a superb editorial team of advisory board members . The tasks of advisory board members involved aid in populating the handbook , representing various academic specialties , and in reviewing the chapters for the handbook . Each member of the advisory board is a highly informed and respected figure in the ethnography of communication or a closely related approach to the study of communication and discourse . The advisory board was conceived with attention to quality , a range of intellectual interests , and cultural / linguistic and / or geographic representation.
