AbstractIntermittency factor measurements were made in the fully developed transition region of a horizontal circular straight tube with reentrant and square-edged inlets under isothermal flow conditions. A correlation for prediction of the intermittency factor and consequently the fully developed skin friction coefficient in the transition region for each inlet is recommended. The fully developed skin friction coefficients obtained from intermittency factor measurements and direct pressure drop measurements showed close agreement.
