AbstractWe report on experimental demonstration of quantitative photoacoustic tomography (PAT) for reconstructing the absolute absorption coefficient of heterogeneous media. Phantom results are obtained using a finite element-based reconstruction algorithm coupled with a scanning photoacoustic imaging system. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
