Abstract

This paper presents a novel approach forgenerating the real-time fluid flow driven bythe motion of the character in full 3D space,based on Smoothed-Particle Hydrodynamicsmethod. In the past relevant works, the real-time fluid-character animation could hardlybe achieved due to the intensive processingdemand on the movement of the characterand fluid simulation. In order to handle suchinteractions, the motion trajectory of the char-acter is first estimated, and then the movementof particles is constrained by the geometricproperties of the trajectory. Furthermore, theefficient algorithms of the particle searching andrendering are proposed, by taking advantageof the GPU parallelization. Consequently,both simulation and rendering of 3D liquideffects with realistic character interaction canbeperformed on aconventional PCinreal-time.
